I am directed by Secretary Sir Austen Chamberlain
to enclose, herewith, copy of a letter from Captain
E. Evans, M.P. to Mr. Locker-Lampson transmitting
an enquiry as to the possibility of securing
compensation from the Government of Hongkong in respect
of one of the officers of S.S. "Anking" who was
murdered by pirates.
2. A copy of the reply which it is proposed to
send to Captain Evans is also enclosed, and the
Secretary of State will be glad to learn whether Mr.
Secretary Amery concurs in its terms.
